Released: October 14, 2026 The scope parameter on /search and /answer now accepts a new web scope, in beta, alongside news, people, companies, financial-reports, and wikipedia. It searches a general crawl of the web together with Wikipedia.

Highlights

  • General web coverage — Company and product sites, documentation, blogs, reference pages, news sites, and Wikipedia in one scope.
  • The new default — A request without a scope now searches web instead of news. To keep the previous behavior, pass scope: "news".
  • Works with Search, Answer, and Monitor — Retrieve full-text results directly, or get an answer grounded in citations from the web.
  • Beta — Coverage and ranking can change while the scope is in beta.
